Dafne will arrive home this afternoon (with her silver medal!) After the Olympic rollercoaster ride in many ways, she can look back with pride on her 5th place in the 100m and of course her silver 2nd spot on the 200m. Dafne cannot wait to set foot on Dutch soil again where she and all the other Dutch Olympians will be honoured at the RAI in Amsterdam.
The last two official races (both Diamond League) before the Olympics in Rio were successful for Dafne. In Monaco, she won the 100m in 10.94 seconds. Yesterday, in London, she crossed the 200m finish line first, clocking 22.13 seconds with a slight headwind and leaving five American athletes behind her. Tiffany Townsend came in second (22.63sec), followed by Joanna Atkins (22.64sec).
In front of a loudly cheering home crowd in Amsterdam, Dafne won the 100meters during the European Athletic Championships! The Olympic Stadium was fully packed, giving her goosebumps and it helped Dafne finish in an excellent 10,90sec.
Another milestone in the run up to the Olympics in Rio the Janeiro!
